Dr. Nazrul Azizi is a psychologist and the founder of Muslim Mental Health Lab. He is also a board member under the Malaysian Ministry of Health. With a PhD in Psychology, a Master’s in Counselling, and a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S., Dr. Nazrul combines professional experience with strong academic background to support mental health in the Muslim community.

Over the years, Dr. Nazrul has worked with many people through community outreach programs, especially those facing emotional struggles and mental health issues. He realized that many Muslims need a healing approach that includes both psychology and Islamic values. This inspired him to start Muslim Mental Health Lab — a center that offers therapy, education, and support based on both science and faith.

Dr. Nazrul believes that mental health should be easy to access and free from stigma. His goal is to help people heal emotionally and spiritually, while also building stronger, healthier communities guided by compassion, knowledge, and Islam.

Careers

Life at MMHL

At Muslim Mental Health Lab, we believe true healing begins with compassion, understanding, and faith. Here’s what makes our community and work culture unique.

At Muslim Mental Health Lab, our team is guided by Islamic values of empathy, trust, and service. We nurture a culture where both mental and spiritual wellness are honored, creating an environment where everyone feels respected, supported, and empowered to make a difference.

We blend modern psychology with Islamic teachings in our therapy, workshops, and training programs. Our flexible model ensures that we adapt to individual and community needs, offering personalized care and continuous learning for our team.

We invest in the growth of our people. Whether you’re a counselor, researcher, or outreach volunteer, you’ll find opportunities to expand your skills, deepen your knowledge of Islamic psychology, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Our work extends beyond clinic walls. Through community outreach, education programs, and research, we touch lives across cities and villages — bringing mental health support to those who need it most.

While our foundation is Islamic, our approach is open, inclusive, and welcoming to diverse backgrounds. We believe in working together with global partners, professionals, and communities to advance mental health for all.
